
One of the Pembina Valley's best kept secrets is all that it has to offer. This region has a vast assortment of activities for the entire family to enjoy, from FREE festivals to wonderful hiking trails, and one of the World's largest collection of Prehistoric bones including Morden's Famous BRUCE. The Destination Development Mission has been organized to see how other successful tourist destinations developed into thriving tourist towns.
This mission organized by Travel Manitoba will be visiting destinations in Southern Alberta. We will learn how a small town of 100 people, Rosebud, attracts 40,000 visitors annually.
Very popular Drumheller and area is home to hoodoos, canyons, the world's largest dinosaur and the international acclaimed Royal Tyrell Museum. We will look at the power of partnerships in marketing, the role of secondary attractors in extentding stay and how one destination can be the catalyst for many more.
We will stop in the town of Vulcan "Official Star Trek Capital of Canada" and learn how adopting a single theme can drive destination development.
Our group will have the opportunity to see how Lethbridge has evolved as a tourist destination and how it leverages various marketing consortiums. Finally, we will visit Fort MacLeod for an afternoon at a destination rich with history.
Our group has 27 people with; 8 people from Morden, 6 from Winnipeg, 1 from Morris, 2 from Winkler, 3 from Carman, 2 from Plum Coulee, 2 from Altona, 1 from Russell, 1 from Dauphin and 1 from Warren.
We look forward to taking a look into how we, Pembina Valley, can develop into a destination that will welcome thousands of people each year.
