Purpose: To provide leadership for the chamber and develop strategic goals for continued growth and purposeful activity. Strategy must be presented to the Board of Directors before adopting.
Responsibilities:
- Plan the agenda for board meetings
- Meet regularly to ensure the management and staff are meeting expectations
- Ensure financial stewardship
- Attend community functions on behalf of the Chamber of Commerce
- Take the plans and budgets submitted by each committee and formulate a yearly action plan to achieve those plans.
- Advise committee members if something cannot be done and discuss.

Information & Liason Committee (formerly known as advocacy committee)
Ross Ariss – Chair
Recruitment Skills: Diplomacy and debate expertise necessary to be apart of the committee.
Purpose: To communicate with community organizations and Town leaders in order to development and foster growth for commerce (business) in Morden. To develop a task force with each issue brought forward by the membership and ensure the task force is addressing the issue in a timely manner.
Responsibilities:
- Read and report information to the board from other chambers and affiliations
- Understand and report lobbying activities
- Recruit Committee Members to help meet necessary goals and tasks
- Develop lobbying process
- Meet regularly to ensure an effective communication strategy of the information to the members and board of directors
- Perform responsibilities necessary for Manitoba Chamber of Commerce and Canadian Chamber of Commerce memberships
- Bring Apple pies to the AGM in Brandon, to improve our bid for the 2012 AGM
- Prepare a budget and request the necessary funds needed to carry out these duties.
- Understand available affinity programs and determine which ones should be provided to Morden Members.

Farmer’s Market Committee

Recruitment Skills: Ability to organize, understanding of Farmer’s Market, ability to build relationships with home-based businesses and mentor new vendors for future growth.
Purpose: To provide an avenue for small business to showcase and sell their products and to attract consumers to the downtown area.
Responsibilities:
- Meet regularly to ensure an effective communication strategy of the information to the members and board of directors
- Recruit Committee Members to help meet necessary goals and tasks
- Prepare a budget and request the necessary funds needed to carry out these duties.
- Communicate with local business people helping them to capitalize on the traffic from the Farmer’s Market
Purpose and relationship to the Chamber Mandate: The Farmer’s Market is a venue for small and home-based businesses to establish themselves and increase their market share, in essence helping grow commerce in Morden. Stated by the BRE to develop a tourism feature, we are working to develop the Morden Farmer’s Market as a tourist destination.

Purpose: To stay apprised of current technology trends for Chamber advancement and to provide valuable advice/information to members.
Responsibilities:
- Meet regularly to ensure the chamber has the necessary technology to perform administration and programming services
- Recruit Committee Members to help meet necessary goals and tasks
- Provide the necessary information to the members regarding the latest technology – establish an network of experts that can help members make good decisions on future technology investments
- Provide technology support for programming committee and staff at events and activities of the chamber.

Purpose: Ensure that the Morden and District Chamber of Commerce adheres to all bylaws and governance
Responsibilities:
- Update bylaws as needed and directed, ensuring that the regulations of the bylaws are met in doing so.
- Training new board members on the bylaws and ensuring they have received a current copy.
